Misty Sophia's story
Misty Sofia is a sweet, petite, one year old blue dachshund (please read below for more info on blue dachshunds) recently released from a commercial breeder in Mississippi. She's a happy, curious little girl that is learning to play with toys and enjoys the company of her canine foster siblings. She absolutely loves to be with her person and wants to be where the action is at all times. Misty is quite the little love and is always up for snuggling. Although she would love to have a canine companion in her new home, she would also do fine as an only dog getting all the love and attention from her new family.
Misty Sofia is doing well with both crate training and potty training. She isn't very fond of rain, but she's working on it. Misty will need a securely fenced yard for her safety. She hasn't been around kids yet, but we think she would be fine around older kids that understand how to handle small dogs.
****Misty Sofia is a blue dachshund. Blue dachshunds carry the gene for color dilution alopecia, which means they permanently lose their hair. Most blue dachshunds begin losing their hair around 6-12 months of age, as is happening to Misty, and will lose most or all of their hair within a year or two.
They need special care to protect their skin. Sunblock and t-shirts in the summer to prevent sunburn, warm sweaters and coats in the winter (even indoors.) Some may have skin issues, but your vet can recommend treatment for those.
Misty Sofia is a sweet, loving, happy little dachshund girl, that will look absolutely adorable wearing little sweaters and t-shirts. With a little extra TLC she will have a happy, healthy life. The suggested adoption donation for Misty Sophia is a minimum of $400 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". A securely fenced yard is necessary to adopt one of our terriers.
